Poker at the base is a very simple game. Its large number of variants may be very complex, however, and this is why we will look at the 5 Card Draw (aka poker 'regular'), the latter being easier to learn when it begins . Later we will discuss other alternatives can be found, but for now we are satisfied of 5 Cards Draw.
Understanding the maps and their values
Poker is played with a standard set of 52 playing cards (with the exception of Ross Perot Poker, which was played with less than a full game). The cards are ranked from highest to lowest in the following order: Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2. Aces are ALWAYS high cards, they are worth more than Kings which are worth more than the ladies who are worth more than servants and so on. The cards are sorted into four colors. These are:
* - Clovers
* - Spades
* - Hearts
* - Tile
But then you knew that already, right? The four suits have equal value, which means that none of them is worth more than another. This game is democratic.
Each player is dealt five cards. The goal is to finish with the hand with the highest value. Going from best to worst, hands are ranked in the following order (click on each link to see an example and explanation):
Royal Flush
Straight Flush
Four of a Kind (Quinte)
Full House
Flush
Straight
Three of a Kind (set)
Two Pair (Two Pairs)
One Pair (Pair)
High Card (High)
Learn the basic rules of the game
Now that you know what to want victory, we can fluted on how to play the game itself. Unlike bridge, poker is almost always play for a particular purpose: money. Before the game begins, players should agree on a common agreement on the betting limit. A betting limit will ensure that the game is friendly, and will avoid people to bet various other things such as their mortgage, car see their wives!
On to serious matters, taking action in itself! Here are the basic rules, step by step:
1. First, each player places an ante or "token release 'in the pot before any cards are dealt. The Ante can be any amount, ranging from a nickel (if you're a poor student, for example) to a few thousand dollars (if you're a great point of Vegas). You need an ante because it guarantees that someone will win and have something in each hand for sure. You also need an ante because without it, your family could find themselves very lonely ... no wait, it was a little too far ..
2. Once everyone has spat his ante, the dealer deals the cards face down around the table, starting with the player to his left and continuing in the direction of clockwise. The dealer (if he plays) will distribute its own cards last. Then he distributes to each his first card again around the table to distribute the second and so on. Once everyone has five cards in his possession, the rest of the stack is placed in the middle of the table and the game begins.
3. Each player looks at his cards, then the first player places a bet. While there are many ways to determine who will bet first, the novice poker will find it wiser to leave the player standing directly left of the dealer make the first bet. Then on the next hand, the person on the left will focus first and so on around the table and for each new hand.
4. Players have several options when to conduct the first round. If no one has yet made a bet, you have two choices:
Open: (Open) If no bet has taken place when it's your turn, you can 'open' the pot (an attractive option for all fans of the Grateful Dead that is among you). This simply means that you make your first bet (any amount up to the betting limit).
Check: The possibility of 'checker' is only possible if no one has yet opened paris when it's your turn to decide what you want to do. When a player 'check' it means he does not want to open paris but it does not give up either. This is roughly equivalent to saying 'I do not want to open the betting but I want to stay in the race to see what will happen'.
Suppose that now someone opens up (because at one point it will happen!). You now have three choices:
See: When you "see" another player, it means that you must match their bet. So if someone bets $ 1 and you want to stay involved, you need to 'see' them by adding $ 1 $ 1 from your pocket into the pot.
Closure: When you "wake up ', you will first" see "the previous bet, then raise. For example, if the person before you bet a nickel and you want to bet more than that, you would say 'I see (also) your nickel and you raise (increase the bet) another nickel. "
Fold: When someone else opens, you can always face in reducing your losses. In other words, you 'bend'. Bending means abandoning ', place your cards face down on the table, lose what you bet and when to settle for a beer out the fridge. In other words, you give up prematurely and lose your money. This option is used when you think your hand is too weak to compete.
5. At this point, all players who have not folded have the right to get rid of cards they do not want and to get news. A player has the right to get rid of unwanted three cards up and receive three more of the pick (as long as their player still has a total of five cards). Nobody sees the cards that gets rid of the other players where they have dug new. Everything is face down.
6. After each player to have drawn 0-3 new maps, updates resumed. you will have the option of opening or checking, and once someone has opened, you can see, raise or fold. The game ends when no more from exercise (everyone has seen the latest of others), or when everyone has folded (except the winner of course).
7. Now it is time that everybody turns over his cards to see how well they did. The player with the highest hand wins the pot. Some people at that time was known to have laugh sadistically while they were collecting money from their opponents. If you behave this way your friends will hate you. However we highly recommend you because they will recover!
The only way to stay in the race is not to bend. If you have a bad hand and want to get away quickly so you can take into consideration the fact of bending. If you have what you think is a good hand (if you could have some new cards and get good addition), then you might seriously take into consideration the fact of staying in the race. But obviously you do not want everyone to know that you have a good hand, otherwise it is likely that they all fold, letting you win so that a tiny ante pot. The trick lies in the fact of ensuring that everyone bet to win and so much more money. Everything hinges on the fact of being or not a good liar and a good actor.
In reading this, your vocabulary to what is poker that is conciderablement improved. But we still do not feel confident enough to what is giving you to the sharks before having depth advantage. To ensure that no one takes you in a dark - or that it will break your knees on a bad bet - be sure you study the following terms:
Bluff
'Bluffing'-or pretend to have better cards than those you currently have in your possession-is a fundamental strategy for a player who bluffs usually bet more than guaranteeing him his cards. The purpose of the bluffer is to scare the other players so he left that hand into believing he is holding the cards phenomenal.
Rough play
A player 'aggressive' is a player who bet so high that very early in the game, forcing other players to abandon their comfort zone. It often will bet the maximum limit and remains in the race until the end. Depending on your skill level, aggressive play can prove to be a quick way 'to spit' a lot of money.
Thurs Conservative
A conservative player is often set the minimum and is quick for what is to fold if the cards do not reveal themselves to be in his favor. Playing Conservative may be a good way to keep as much money in my pocket, but most of the time will not help you win big pots. Why? Because if people know you're a conservative player, they pay the price every time you bet more than the minimum. A conservative player is often susceptible to what is the trick of the bluffer.
Action
For those located in the dating game, this word makes reference to the fact of 'activated'. For poker players he refers to the number of bets down around a table in particular. In a casino, you may be able to hear a professional player say, 'I'm leaving because there is not enough action around the table'. This is tantamount to saying that there is not enough money circulating.
Say
A 'tell' is a discreet way of repeating an action that will tell others how much your hand is good. Nobody wants that NEVER guess what the other is their 'say', but everybody has one. When you lie, you seem unintentionally leave small clues. A player may wipe his brow when he is in possession of a good hand, trying to hide his excitement. Another player may cringe when he is in possession of a bad hand, a nervous reaction to the bluff that is about to perform. Anyway, you should always try to see what is the 'say' the other players while trying somehow to conceal your own. Try to play as stoically as possible, eliminating the possibility that someone can guess your 'say'. Practice the face of poker. Lexique du poker
